Date: JANUARY 2025Client: Leicester City Council
The redevelopment of Pilot House, a former factory on King Street in Leicester city centre, marks a significant step in transforming a cluster of heritage buildings into a vibrant hub for creative businesses. The site, owned by Leicester City Council, required an upgraded fire safety infrastructure to meet current fire safety regulations.
To ensure compliance with fire safety regulations, two dry riser systems were installed as part of the redevelopment. Systems are equipped with nine landing valves, providing a reliable water supply for emergency services. These installations play a crucial role in safeguarding both the occupants and the structural integrity of the building.
All materials used in the installation comply with BS 9990:20215 standards. The manufacturing partner has developed high-pressure Ball and Needle Valves capable of withstanding pressures up to 10,000 psig. Additionally, the supplier’s management has adopted Total Quality Management (TQM) principles, ensuring that all products meet high-quality standards and are delivered with prompt service at competitive prices.
Beyond the installation itself, our team worked closely with site and project managers throughout the project, offering expert advice to ensure the systems met the necessary approvals from Building Control and the Fire Officer. The project concluded with the issuance of the Certificate of Compliance and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manuals upon completion.
The successful installation of the two dry riser systems in Leicester at Pilot House underscores our commitment to providing high-quality fire safety solutions for heritage redevelopment projects and by ensuring compliance with fire safety standards. Read more.
